DANNON CELEBRATES CHILDREN'S DAY!
Children’s Day is observed each December by Dannon and Groupe Danone employees around the world. At each company location, employees volunteer to help children in need at a local charity in honor of the holiday season. Dannon employees helped with the following in 2007 in recognition of Children's Day:
FORT WORTH, TEXAS
Celebrating a Special Tradition: Dannon Children's Day at Cook Children's Hospital
Employees at Dannon-Fort Worth brought the holidays to Cook Children's Hospital, donating three trees and fully decorating them for the holidays. The team also decorated the doors to 150 patient rooms, kicking off the holiday season and making it a happier one for children and their families. Dannon-Fort Worth employees donated gingerbread house supplies, toys, and other gifts to distribute to the children who are patients at Cook Children's Hospital.
MINSTER, OHIO
Hot, Healthy Holiday Meals for Deserving Children
Dannon-Minster employees helped children at two community organizations this December. Dannon employees served a hot, healthy lunch to the 75 children and 23 teachers at the local Cooperative Learning Center. The facility does not have cafeteria service, so they are only able to have cold lunches every day. After serving lunch to the children and their teachers, Dannon employees provided Dannon hats and gave out after-school recipes and helpful hints to the kids at the facility about eating healthy snacks.
Dannon-Minster employees provided dinner for families whose children use the Harmony Reins equine therapy facility. During dinner, Dannon employees provided Dannon cookbooks to all of the parents and explained the importance of balanced nutrition for the entire family. Dannon also provided hats or lunch coolers to the children and their siblings at the facility, and gas cards to their parents who are on limited incomes.
WEST JORDAN, UTAH
Providing an Afternoon of Holiday Fun to Children from Youth City
Youth City is an after-school program for underprivileged youth ages 8-14 years old. Employees at Dannon-West Jordan provided an afternoon of fun holiday activities to these children, including an obstacle course, magic show, board games and a healthy, holiday cooking class. At the end of the day, all Youth City children received a reusable insulated lunch bag. Dannon-West Jordan employees also generously donated children's winter clothing, books and equipment to encourage active play like sleds and balls for the five Youth City sites around the area.
WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK
Dannon celebrates its Fifth Annual Children's Day at Blythedale Children's Hospital
Employees at Dannon-White Plains helped Blythedale Children's Hospital welcome 95.5 WPLJ-FM's morning radio show for their annual holiday broadcast to benefit the Hospital. Dannon volunteers talked with the children as they enjoyed the broadcast and also answered phones from the public as they made donations to the hospital. Earlier in December, all employees provided toys and gift cards for as part of a Blythedale Holiday Gift Drive. Gifts collected were presented to the children at Blythedale on the day of the broadcast. Dannon also presented a donation of $10,000 to Blythedale Children's Hospital during the broadcast. Blythedale will use the $10,000 donation to organize two community lectures to help parents instill healthy eating habits in their children.
