The Dannon Company, Inc., has been named a corporate sponsor of
Zoboomafoo, the Emmy-winning PBS KIDS series produced by CINAR Corporation in
association with PBS and the Kratt Brothers Company. The one-year sponsorship,
effective immediately, will run nationally and feature the DANNON® Danimals®
brand of products. Dannon is also participating in a kid's meal promotion with
PBS and Fazoli's Italian Restaurants across the country through August 30,
2002. Zoboomafoo toy premiums, as well as special offers and coupons, will be
available to Fazoli's customers throughout the promotion.
Concurrent with sponsorship of Zoboomafoo, DANNON Danimals will also
underwrite the PBS KIDS landmark preschool series Teletubbies, produced by
Ragdoll Ltd., for six months. This partnership marks the first sponsorship of a
PBS KIDS program by The Dannon Company.
"PBS is thrilled to have Dannon on board as a corporate sponsor of these
important preschool series," remarks Tracey L. Beeker, vice president, PBS
Strategic Partnerships & Licensing. "We appreciate Dannon's commitment to
good nutrition and we look forward to cultivating a long-term alliance with
Dannon on these and other PBS KIDS properties."
The DANNON Danimals brand of products will be recognized through national
underwriting credits on-air for both series and on the Zoboomafoo Web site
featured on pbskids.org.
"The Dannon Company and PBS share very similar values regarding family,
education, innovation and quality," said Heidi Dvorkin-Krauss, marketing
director, The Dannon Company. "We couldn't be happier to associate our brand
with such a high quality of educational and entertaining children's
programming."
Zoboomafoo is the first wildlife series created especially with preschoolers in
mind. Real life brothers and creature adventurers Chris Kratt and Martin Kratt
play host to an exotic lineup of animal friends in their adventure outpost
Animal Junction by fusing fun-filled stunts, guessing games and songs to create
an energetic learning environment for both parents and kids. Since its launch
in September 1999, the antics of everyone's favorite lemur, Zoboomafoo, and his
pals the Kratt Brothers, have won the hearts of millions of fans of all ages.
The award-winning series is produced by Cinar Corporation, in association with
PBS and the Kratt Brothers Company and airs daily on PBS KIDS.
Developed as a celebration of play, the twice-Emmy nominated Teletubbies is the
first program specifically designed for children aged one year and older.
Created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport of Ragdoll, Ltd., the series debuted
on PBS KIDS in 1998. Teletubbies' unique format and characters are designed to
nourish young children's thinking skills, teach them to listen, help build
their curiosity, expand their imagination and increase their confidence.
Extensive response testing with very young children helps shape the unique
content of the series. Ragdoll recently announced a strategic alliance between
the Teletubbies and Toys R Us that will see the longstanding relationship with
PBS KIDS called out on new Teletubbies product packaging.
